In the past two months, approximately 600 bicyclists have been stopped by police in the city of Philadelphia. The crackdown on bicyclist caught breaking the traffic laws is part of the City’s Give Respect, Get Respect campaign that is intended to increase bicyclist and pedestrian safety. While only three of the approximately 600 bicyclists have received tickets, authorities warn that more tickets may be issued in the future as the program continues.
200 motorists have also been stopped, and some have been ticketed, for unsafe behavior as part of this campaign. As Pennsylvania accident and injury lawyers, we hope that the campaign continues to be successful and to prevent people from getting hurt, or worse killed, in Philadelphia bicycle or pedestrian accidents.
