Last week the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released some startling data. According to NHTSA, one in five U.S. drivers admitted to driving drunk at least once within the past year. That means that as many as 17 million drivers have driven drunk, and risked lives, at least once in the past year.
Have You Driven with a Drunk Driver?
Eight percent of drivers admit to riding in cars where they know, or suspect, that the driver is drunk. Almost one quarter of the males aged 21-24 who were surveyed admitted to riding in a car with a drunk driver.
What You Need to Know About Drunk Driving
While more than 80% of the people surveyed recognized drunk driving as a danger, millions of people continue to drink and drive and millions more continue to ride with drunk drivers. It is important to remember, particularly heading into the Labor Day holiday weekend, that drunk driving is not simply against the law. It kills innocent people.
The Pennsylvania wrongful death lawyers of Ostroff Law encourage you to refrain from drinking and driving and to stay safe this holiday weekend.
