Personal Injury Lawyers: The Myths vs. The Facts (Part 1 of 2)

Let’s face it.  People often make fun of personal injury lawyers – that is until they are hurt and they need one.  So, let’s sort through some of the common myths about personal injury lawyers and learn some facts about personal injury lawyers.

Myth #1: Personal Injury Lawyers Make the Recovery Process More Adversarial.

Fact #1: Personal Injury Lawyers Level the Playing Field.  Personal injuries lawyers do not make the recovery process more adversarial. Instead, they protect they stand up for the rights of their clients.  If a defendant, or an insurance company, is willing to settle a case for a fair amount of damages then there would be no disagreement.   A personal injury lawyer who protects his or her clients’ rights is not being adversarial just to be contrary.  Instead he or she is fighting for what the responsible party or insurance company will not readily provide.

Myth #2: Personal Injury Lawyers Cost Too Much.

Fact #2: You Can’t Afford Not to Hire a Personal Injury Lawyer.  Most personal injury lawyers are paid a percentage of what you recover.  Often, that percentage is much higher when you use a personal injury lawyer.  Thus, while your lawyer is paid for his or her services you often net a higher sum of money, after attorney’s fees, than you would have been able to net without the assistance of a lawyer.
