Michael L. Barbiero,
Partner
Michael L. Barbiero joined Ostroff Injury Law in 2011.
He concentrates his practice in personal injury, wrongful death, and catastrophic injuries. He also serves as a Certified Arbitrator for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Compulsory Arbitration Program. He is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Mr. Barbiero was named a Pennsylvania "Rising Star Super Lawyer" in the December 2008 edition of Philadelphia magazine, which recognizes the top 2.5 percent of attorneys 40 years old or younger in the state of Pennsylvania.
Michael is an experienced, well-respected litigator and trial attorney. Lawyers across Pennsylvania who represent injured accident victims rely on a book that Michael co-authored called "Library of Pennsylvania Personal Injury Forms." This important resource for Pennsylvania Personal Injury Lawyers is used as a guide that lawyers rely on for help with handling personal injury lawsuits.
Michael's clients benefit from his perfect mix of real-world and personal injury experience. Prior to returning to school for his law degree, Michael worked for several years with troubled teens thoughout Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. Helping families at some of their darkest times inspired Michael to return to school to become an attorney. Following a post-law-school clerkship with the esteemed Alex Bonavitacola, Michael spent several years as an attorney defending insurance companies. This experience directly benefits the accident victims he now represents, because he has been on "both sides of the fence" and understands how insurance companies and their attorneys review and handle personal injury cases. Michael then spent eight years focusing on the representation of catastrophically injured victims while employed at the renowned Anapol, Schwartz personal injury law firm in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In the community, Michael is currently the Chairman of the Abington-Rockledge Democratic Committee and in 2008, the Committee honored him with the Democrat of the Year Award. Michael also volunteers as a Youth Aid Panel Member, youth program soccer and T-Ball coach, and has volunteered for Town Watch. Michael was appointed by the Abington Township Board of Commissioners to the Abington Industrial Development Authority and served from August, 2006, to December 2008.
Mr. Barbiero is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Philadelphia Bar Associations, as well as the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Associations. He is also a member of the Justinian Society of Lawyers. In January, 2007, Michael was appointed to the Advisory Panel of the American Bar Association.
Mr. Barbiero earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Pennsylvania State University. He received his law degree from Widener University School of Law. During law school, Mr. Barbiero participated in Temple University School of Law's Rome, Italy Summer Session program, concentrating in international law and the European Union. Mr. Barbiero also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Richard S. Gebelein in the Superior Court of Delaware during the Spring of 1997. In addition, he served as a certified intern with the Pennsylvania Criminal Defense Clinic in the Spring of 1998. He was inducted into the Moot Court Honor Society and Phi Delta Phi, Harrington Inn, Honor Chapter, as well as named in Who's Who, American Law Students, 18th Edition, 1999; Continental Who's Who 2006-07; and the Cambridge Who's Who 2008/2009 Registry.
