How to Stay Safe in the Mall Parking Lot This Holiday Season

How to Stay Safe in the Mall Parking Lot This Holiday Season

It is that time of year again. Pennsylvanians are rushing around and trying to find the perfect present, the right decoration, the ingredients for a special recipe or the ideal outfit for the next holiday party. We are all trying to get to the photographer, the dry cleaner, and the post office before they close.

All of this is done in addition to our regular work and family responsibilities. It should, therefore, come as no surprise that people are stressed, rushed and distracted in December.

The Craziest Place to be During the Holiday Season

One of the craziest – and potentially most dangerous – places to be is the mall parking lot where hurried, tired and often aggravated shoppers fight for a parking space. Accordingly, our accident and injury lawyers have a couple of recommendations to keep in mind.

Ostroff Godshall Injury and Accident Lawyers’s Recommendations

  • Put down your cell phone. Both drivers and pedestrians should put away their phones and focus on getting safely to their destinations.
  • Wear light or reflective clothing. It gets dark early at this time of year and it is important to be seen while walking from your car to the mall.
  • Be patient. Whether you are a driver looking for a spot or a walker looking to get inside the mall or back to your car, remember that the few extra seconds you might gain in time is not worth the risk of a serious injury or fatality.

We hope that the tips described above help you complete your holiday errands safely this year and that you have a joyous holiday season.
