Are Hydroxycut products harmful?

Hydroxycut products fall under the category of dietary supplements.  These supplements contain numerous ingredients.  Many of the ingredients are herbal or natural ingredients, however, these can still cause health problems. The FDA issued the Hydroxycut product warning after numerous reports of serious injury and death as a result of taking Hydroxycut products. The FDA investigates reports to protect the public from products that could be potentially harmful or dangerous to their health.

Hydroxycut has been on the market for 7 years – why did it take so long to learn of problems?

First, understand that the FDA only controls products that fall under the food or drug categories.  Dietary supplements are not normally under the realm of the FDA.  When reports of serious injury were reported the FDA got involved.  Once a death was reported the FDA determined that the public should no longer take Hydroxycut products.   Some of the original health injuries were thought to be related to the ingredient ephedra, which was removed from the formulation of Hydroxycut products in 2004.  Since additional reports of serious health problems have occurred since 2004 the FDA took further action with issuing a special warning.  The company that makes Hydroxycut products issued the recall.

What should I do if I took Hydroxycut products?

If you used Hydroxycut products you must immediately stop taking them.  If you had any medical problems while you were taking Hydroxycut you may have a legal case.  It is important to immediately talk to an attorney to discuss your case.  Most often an attorney will take your case on contingency meaning that the attorney will get paid only if you do.  Save any of your unused products.  Gather all your medical records including doctor or hospital bills and medical diagnosis.  Choose a Hydroxycut lawyer who has handled these types of cases in the past.  He will have the experience needed to work with the companies involved to get you the money you deserve.
